August 1st is the Pagan festival of Lammas or Lughnasad. Traditionally, corn dollies were made on this festival to honour the grain goddess. It’s the first festival of the harvest and a time when of honouring the passing of the light and the reaping of the grain.
Lammas is a festival of regrets and farewells, of harvest and preserves. Spend a few minutes contemplating on what you’ve regretted this year so far, what you’ve said goodbye to, what you have nurtured and grown and what you hope to hold on to in the future.
Here’s my Lammas list:
Regrets – that I haven’t changed my job and jumped into full time self-employment (but I’m working on it).
Farewell – I’ve had to say farewell to various family members.
Harvest – I’ve grown plants for the first time 🙂
Preserve – the love I feel for my husband and my sons.
So, what’s your list? Add a comment and let me know 🙂
Bright Blessings
Lyn
